Study

Studies in physics are taught within the Faculty of Science at the University of Iceland. BS in physics and graduate studies for an MS degree.

Requirements

Admission requirements are a matriculation examination or a comparable study program with a certain minimum number of credits in mathematics and science.

The program is credit-worthy for subsistence and tuition fees at the Student Education Fund (Menntasjóður námsmanna). Trade union education funds often provide scholarships for study. Get more information from your union.

Curriculum

About half of the studies in physics is compulsory courses, mathematics courses are about a quarter and the rest is elective courses where students can choose more physics or courses from other disciplines.

After graduation

Physicists usually work in connection with research and technological development, often within research and teaching departments of universities or in engineering offices and development departments of high-tech companies, innovation companies and hospitals.
